CEPD NV buys chain of 65 pharmacies in Lithuania

On the 4th of July 2011 in Vilnius, UAB Gintarine Vaistine, the company being a part of CEPD NV holding, concluded the agreement on purchasing chain of Litfarma Vaistine pharmacies. The value of the agreement amounts to LTL M 14.2 (approximately PLN M 16.3). Following the transaction's confirmation by the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, the holding will become the leader on the Lithuanian pharmaceutical retail market.

Litfarma Vaistine has 65 agencies and is the 5th biggest pharmacy chain in Lithuania. Almost half of Litfarma's pharmacies are Medical type agencies located in hospitals and medical centers. Other agencies are mostly Premium type pharmacies with developed self-service section, located in stores and shopping malls or on the main streets of big cities.

As a result of transaction, CEPD NV will manage total of 282 of own pharmacies in Lithuania and, in consequence, become the market leader having the biggest number of pharmacies. - "Purchase of Litfarma Vaistine is the next step of our strategy, which is aimed at developing the leading retail network of pharmaceutical products in Central and Eastern Europe" - said Maria Wiśniewska, the President of the Board of CEPD NV.
